Mourning in Ashara Mubaraka

Our new year is fast approaching and by the time my expressions are posted on Internet, all of us have ushered in 1422 Hijri year.

So far as we have known, there is no religion in the world whose new year, in contrast to so many other religion, starts with the days of mourning. It is the general concept that an act done at the start of the year has a recurring effect. What we do at the start, shall we have the opportunities to do it throughout the year. So one wants to enjoy and be happy at the start of the year for being in the same state all through the year. The belief of us, the Dawoodi Bohras, true shia of Ameerul Mumineen (SA), however, is altogether different. We believe, nothing is greater than the mourning over the noble martyrdom of Imam Husain (AS). It is unparallel to anything in this world. The mourning over martyrdom of Imam Husain (AS) is the cause resulting in eternal joy and bliss, the effect of which we can not visualize for want of an inner vision. For the mourning of a minute and for shading a tear, in exchange we get years of happiness. Had we developed inner vision, we could have seen that there are occasions when such stores of happiness gained in exchange of mourning get set-off in our account, against our past sins, and so the result is not apparent; often leading towards a constrained misconception of having received nothing in exchange, whereas in fact, the bad effects of unknowingly committed misdeeds in past are erased in exchange, cleansing us for an easier and peaceful journey to our real abode.

It is a very distinguished characteristic of His Holiness (tus) that He developed the expression of grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of Imam Husain (AS) into the foundation of our faith. Our beloved Aqa Maula(tus) raised the word “YA HUSAIN” to such heights and made it so powerful that the heart rendering cry of “YA HUSAIN” from Him becomes a call to summon the mumineen drawing them together from all corners of the world, for reaping barakaat manifold. THIS YEAR CALL IS FOR ASSEMBLING IN HOUSTON CITY OF UNITED STATES. IN BRINGING HIS FOLLOWER MUMINEEN DWELLING IN FAR WEST, CLOSE TO THE PURPOSE OF THEIR LIFE AND OF THE BIRTH IN THE HUMAN GARB, BESIDES CONTINUING THE RICH TRADITION OF ERECTING MASJIDS AFTER MASJIDS IN LONDON, HOUSTON AND OTHER FAR WEST PLACES, IT IS ONE STEP AHEAD THAT AQA MAULA (TUS) BESTOWED THE SHARAF OF MOURNING ASHARA DAYS TO HOUSTON PEOPLE. IT WILL BE MOST FORTUNATE MOMENT FOR THEM TO DO MATAM WITH AQA MAULA (TUS).

Rasulullah (SAW) has attested that verily; that the heavens are for those who shed tears, make others shed tears, or for those who manifest their grief on His (SAW) beloved son Imam Husain (AS). And so, Syedna (tus) taught and desires us to resound in loudest form “YA HUSAIN” from deepest core of the heart, in every majlis, be it of sorrow or celebration. Normally, His (tus) voice is low and clear as silver bells. But at all time when His Holiness is reciting the tragic episode of Imam Husain(AS)’s noble martyrdom, His (tus) voice is so graceful, so heavy, and so profound that it pierces directly and touches the innermost corner of heart and it is impossible to translate it in words known to the universe. His teachings are simple and straight asking us to translate the lessons and meaning of the martyrdom of Kerbala into our lives making it a living example of high morals because by doing so, each of us will be able to bring within ourselves a spiritual and moral revival, by understanding the purpose of this earthly creation and fulfilling our correct and just role in an increasingly troubled world. It is the result of these teachings , truly and sincerely followed by every mumin that has opened the floodgates of barakaat in our community and set the precedent for all gatherings under the banner of “YA HUSAIN”, in ever increasing numbers.

I take this opportunity to reproduce the NOORANI KALEMAAT bestowed by our Aqa Maula (tus) on His Milad Mubarak on 20^th Rabiul Aakher 1421 H (22-07-2000) in Taheri Masjid of Karachi (Pakistan) :

Maari Milad vaste tame sagla ye 40 din lag Ta’abbudat Na Amal keeda chey. Tamara maa si koi ek ne gunahon na sabab jahannum ma Naakhwa ma aawse tho Ameerul Mumineen (SA) jahannum Ne Hukum Kar se ke tu ehna si door tha. Aaa to Hamara shia ma si chey. Yehj misal mein (me) Imamuz Zaman (AS) ne araz karees ke Aaa mumin to Aap no Ghulam chey Ane Jahannum ne kahis ke dushman ne tu Hargiz na mukje.

Aye mumineen Aaa Dai na sabab tame Jannat maa chho Balke mein em kahoon chhoon ke Aaa Jannat na naseeb Ke tame ehma chho !

Let us on the eve of Pehli Muharram come together and pray before Allah Ta’ala that He be kind enough to keep our Aqa Maula, the only spiritual and religious head of a sect in this world who can give a certain testimony to and can vouch with certitude, the life of His (tus) followers mumineen, till the day of Qiyamat always on the throne of health and give strength to recite bayan of Shahadat of Imam Husain (AS) in ever powerful voice. Let us also pray Allah Ta’ala to bestow Afzalul Jaza for the unlimited mercy with which He (tus) is quietly suffering in cleansing our souls. AAMEEN !
