SULTAN UL BOHRA, DR. SYEDNA MOHAMMED BURHANUDDIN STOPOVER IN SHARJAH.

Sultan ul Bohra, Dai el Fatimi, Dr. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin Saheb (tus) during a one hour stopover at Sharjah International Airport this afternoon (04/01/2003) en route to Cairo briefly addressed the members of the Dawoodi Bohra Muslim Community residing in the U.A.E. He appreciated the tremendous progress made by the U.A.E. in various fields and praised the wise leadership of the Rulers of the U.A.E. under the benevolent and visionary guidance of His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan al Nahyan, the President of the U.A.E. Dr. Syedna Burhanuddin conveyed his prayers and good wishes to the people of the U.A.E.

Recalling Sharjah as a cultural capital , He said he was pleased to be here this afternoon although for a short while. He said His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Mohammed Al Qassimi, Ruler of Sharjah‘s deep interest in education and services to Islam were exemplary.

Government officials, diplomatic corps and members of the Community received Dr. Syedna. The Consul General of India & Egypt were also present. Thousands thronged the airport to greet and take a glimpse of their Ninety one year old leader.

Dr. Syedna only recently presided over the grand marriage celebrations in India of his grandchildren, including his grandson Husain Bhaisaheb Saifuddin, a renowned Qaari (reciter of the Holy Quran). The main highlight of the three days celebrations was a "Haflat al Qur'an" Programme of the Recitation of Holy Quraan held in Surat in which many Qurra (reciters of the Holy Qur'an) from Arab countries including Egypt participated. Many from the U.A.E. visited India to greet their leader and attend the celebrations.

The Dawoodi Bohra Muslim Community worldwide including the U.A.E. is primarily engaged in trading, business & entrepreneurship.

The Community members residing in Sharjah take pride in having reached the final stages of completion of the newly constructed Masjid complex in Sharjah city, under the guidance of Sultan ul Bohra. The Masjid and its façade and environs are a architectural masterpiece and draw from the Fatimi architectural traditions of famous masaajids in Cairo, Egypt. The Community feels grateful to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan al Qassimi, the Ruler of Sharjah and the Sharjah Ruling family for their continued support and cooperation.
